Caerwynne Inner Walls

The inner walls of the city rise like a silent guardian, towering what seems to be much too high, crafted from stone veined with shimmering veins of metal interwoven throughout the rock; silver and copper facing outside and silver and gold on the inner. The height of the walls borders on excessive, though if they were any shorter they would look absurd between the forms of the towers and grandeur of the statues that rise from the wall every few hundred paces.

These angelic sentinels are a defining feature of the city's defensive façade; tall, regal figures carved from the same veined stone. Wings outstretched, forming the parapets along the battlements their postures commanding yet serene. The statues are of pure presence, a blur of grace, undefined yet powerful. Humanoid forms with no distinct facial or racial features. Androgynous forms with smooth featureless faces, intentionally vague and transcending any individual identity to represent the collective might of the city.

Each statue assumes a different pose, creating a visual rhythm that resonates across the length of the wall:

As the walls stretch inward toward the city’s heart, they begin to taper, their towering structure narrowing as it nears the bustling harbor. More functional buildings taking up the space were the wall stood. Replaced by large warehouses, marketplaces and trade houses. The space that once would have been filled by the wall is now consumed by commerce and industry, as the harbor district demands space for the flow of goods and people.

Here, the grandiosity of the wall softens, the imposing stone gradually absorbed into the architecture of the city’s logistical heart. The harbour itself lower in elevation than the reast of the city, the walls blending into the terraced landings like an amphitheatre of commerce. The towering shapes of the statues gradually stepping down to the lower levels (all facing outwards at this point). The Sentinels are further apart and functional; instead of just guard towers; Lanterns act as lighthouses, the Tower Shields hold supply elevators. They stands not in defiance but with the acceptance of the grinding gears of commerce and travel.
